History

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Chandpur Science and Technology University (CSTU) was established as part of the university’s broader mission to advance education in science and technology. CSTU itself was founded under Act 16 of 2020, with the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh enacting its establishment on September 9, 2020, in response to the nation’s growing need for specialized higher education to support digitalization and technological progress.

The academic journey of the CSE department began in the 2021-22 academic session, marking it as one of the university's pioneer programs. The department was formed under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, with a vision to prepare students to excel in the rapidly evolving world of computing and information technology.

Initially, the department admitted 30 students annually, ensuring a focus on quality education and individual attention. Over time, the department has grown steadily, now housing 270 students across three running batches, underscoring its commitment to academic excellence and professional training.

Since its inception, the department has continually evolved to meet the demands of modern education and industry standards. The CSE curriculum has been carefully crafted to integrate foundational knowledge, practical applications, and exposure to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, and IoT. To complement theoretical education, extensive laboratory work, projects, and industrial training have been incorporated into the program.

The department also places a strong emphasis on research and innovation, striving to address the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Despite being relatively new, it has already begun establishing itself as a center of learning and technological advancement, aiming to contribute to national development and global competitiveness.

Through its unwavering commitment to excellence, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at CSTU continues to pave the way for producing skilled professionals, fostering innovation, and shaping the future of technology in Bangladesh.
